Professor Philip Morgan presents on minimising contact lens dropouts

24-08-2018

At the Clinical Conference, Professor Philip Morgan will provide an evidence-based approach for analysing our current knowledge of contact lens drop-outs.

Eyecare practitioners spend many hours of clinical time examining and fitting prospective contact lens wearers, only to see a significant proportion of them discontinue from lens wear. Often, this is relatively early in the contact lens journey and frequently patients will consult the web and friends rather than their practitioner. At the Clinical Conference, Professor Philip Morgan will provide an evidence-based approach for analysing our current knowledge of contact lens drop-outs. Appropriate clinical strategies and lens selection are key to converting a concerned contact lens wearer into a successful patient, and these approaches will be described. In turn, these methods will assist in minimising the number of contact lens drop-outs and enhance the contact lens experience for our patients leading to better practitioner satisfaction and improved practice success.

Philip Morgan is Professor of Optometry, Head of Optometry and Director of Eurolens Research at The University of Manchester. Philip is President of the International Society for Contact Lens Research and Vice President of the International Association of Contact Lens Educators. He is an honorary member of the Association of Contact Lens Manufacturers, a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and of the British Contact Lens Association, and a member of the UK College of Optometrists. Philip was the BCLA Medallist in 2014 and BCLA Pioneer’s Lecturer in 2015.
